office 1ProTel (Professional Telecoms) Solutions Ltd, supplier and provider of innovative telecoms solutions, services and products announces today that 04APR14 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Company’s founding.

04 April 2004 – 04 April 2014

ProTel (Professional Telecoms) Solutions are proud to be celebrating 10 years in business, it has not always been easy but we would not have been able to achieve it without the support of our staff, customers, family and friends.

The ProTel journey started on the 4th of April 2004, initially set up as a company offering Telecoms Training solutions, work was slow and very competitive. The whole business was operated from a brick office on the side of the house, measuring only 2.5 x 2m. In order to generate revenue quickly we undertook consultancy on a major Defence project, whilst undertaking this we reviewed the structure of ProTel and decided that we also needed to look to sell comparable products. We soon established a strong customer base in the Government and Defence sectors as well as a the Commercial Telecoms industry.

In 2005 we took on our first major product, we met the company at a trade show in London and made the decision to work with Omnitron Systems a media converter manufacturer with a headquarters in Irvine, California. The company had a limited representation in the UK, initially sales were slow but in 2006 we were successful in bidding for and winning the contract to supply media converters to a major MOD project providing a new communications infrastructure across the UK and rest of the world.

ProTel soon realised that they needed a larger area to operate from, the decision was made to build a custom built office/storage area in 2007. Stock turned over quickly allowing for a 5m x 4m unit to be built at the bottom of the garden, this allowed us to move the business operation from the house, which it was beginning to take over!

In 2008 with the increase of business, sales and new product lines, our focus was very much about providing complete integrated solutions to meet our customers requirements, we took the step to move the business to an industrial unit. Moving ProTel totally from  home allowed us additional storage space, dedicated office space for employees and the ability to carry out customer training at our own premises.

Continuing to grow we took on a second industrial unit in 2010, meaning we could increase our stock holdings and we took on additional product sets complementary to the business.  This year also saw us working with London Underground on the design of a Hybrid Copper/Fibre system to carry telemetry information. The cables were deployed in harsh environments such as under trains, with a combination of shock, vibration and lots of dust! ProTel were successful in winning the contract to supply these cables and worked with ACAL in the manufacture of the cables.

ProTel took the decision to buy their own industrial unit in 2012, it was a brand new empty shell. We worked with the Architect in the design and layout to produce a custom fit to meet the requirements of the business, moving in during December. We are glad to say ProTel has continued to grow year on year even through a triple dip recession, none of which would have been possible without the support and loyalty of our customers, a big thank you from all at the Company.
