10G Demarcation NIDs for Mobile Backhaul, Small Cell, Cloud and Business Services

Irvine, CA – June 16, 2014 – Omnitron Systems Technology,  a leader in Carrier Ethernet demarcation, today announced the launch of the iConverter® XM5 10G Network Interface Device (NID). The XM5 is an MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 compliant NID that provides 10 Gigabit and Gigabit service demarcation and aggregation for wholesale Ethernet, 4G/LTE mobile backhaul, small cell, business and cloud services.

The XM5 is the smallest, full-function 10G NID available, and has the lowest power consumption. It features three 10G SFP+ or XFP ports and up to four SFP or 10/100/1000 RJ-45 gigabit ports, and functions as a UNI or NNI. The XM5 can be deployed as a 10G ring node with aggregation ports for 10G and gigabit spoke links, or as a demarcation NID on a 10G access link with gigabit and 10G customer-facing ports for multiple tenants. It is available with redundant AC or DC power inputs, and supports extended temperature ranges from -40º to 75ºC.

By providing Carrier Ethernet 2.0 demarcation for a variety of 10G and gigabit services, the XM5 simplifies operations, and reduces the need to inventory multiple NID models. Gigabit SFPs can be installed in the 10G ports to provide a seamless upgrade path to future 10G services.
